On the Scene: NFL Combine drills overrated, film never lies

Let’s pretend I’m a general manager of an NFL franchise and it’s crunch-time for making a decision on my first-round draft pick.

Am I going to base my decision on how a player performed in the 40-yard dash, the 3-cone drill and the broad jump at the NFL Combine, or am I going put in game tape and watch how he performed in live game action?

Clearly you would make a very poor GM or front office personnel after reading this article!!!! You should be ashamed to call yourself an NFL fan. The Combine is one of the most relevant events to the sport, it is how people become discovered and there is more than just one example of Chris Johnson who got discovered at the combine. But what is more appalling then the argument that the combine is only to keep focused on the NFL year round is that you compare Tony Pike to Joe Flacco. Those two are NOTHING alike clearly you do not watch college football (all of it not just BSC conferences). Coming out of Delaware Flacco was projected to already be a top 20 pick because he has everything Pike doesn’t. Examples frame he was a solid 6’6 and 230lbs with a cannon that could throw a football over 70yards if I’m not mistaken. Correct me if I am wrong but Pike is barley 6’5 and is 215lbs soaking wet without shitting for 3 days and a noodle arm that can barley throw a ball 50 yards and a stiff fart could knock him over, if you think the only problem he will have is his wrist getting injured you clearly have no idea or respect for the players that play in NFL. I would be embarrassed to put my name on an article like this. And as far as the argument than why are all these other top prospects sitting out, if you would pay attention to sports you would know that they have NO stock at all and the QB’s in this year’s draft are widely considered now to be weak especially since Bradford got hurt. You need to check your sources and where you get information from and IF you would take your own advice your right the tape doesn’t lie and I will not be reading another opinion sports article by you again. SHAME ON YOU as a “fan” and I use that word loosely (fan).
